Carroll County

I have plotted many of the original land grants for Carroll County. Before its formation in 1837 from parts of Baltimore and Frederick Counties, patents were recorded in those two counties. While researching Baltimore County early records, many of the patents I plotted ended up being in Carroll. Note that this file is far from complete and many included have not been properly placed. This is an ongoing project.

From the beginning, I have used DeedMapper from Direct Line Software to plot all these patents and various other deeds and surveys. The following files may be downloaded to be used with DeedMapper. I suggest that you first create a new folder on your computer. Download the following three files into the new folder by right-clicking on each one in turn and choosing Save Link or Download.

• Carroll.mbl (the DeedMapper data)
• images.dat (contains data to position and scale the following background map correctly)
• Carroll2015.bmp (69 MB) (contains one BMP file which provide a background map for the plots)
